On Friday the third my friend Dave was scheduled to arrive here in ole CO at about 11pm. He was heading out for a 10 day trip that he planned to split between a few different locations and friends. Also, he booked his flights with American Airlines so needless to say he didn’t actually make it on Friday night. But I picked him up at the airport Saturday morning and we kicked off his trip with brunch and a few cocktails!
We went to Snooze (http://snoozeeatery.com) for brunch. It is THE place for brunch here in Denver with two locations both within walking distance to me. There was a tiny wait during which we enjoyed mimosas. Once seated, we ate ALOT. And it was delicious.

Dave is a Cider fan so while at brunch we looked to see if there were any cideries in close proximity….and of course, there were. When we left Snooze, we headed for Stem (http://www.stemciders.com/). We each had a flight of ciders, sharing to taste as much as possible.

Next up, BEER. We walked a few blocks to First Draft (http://www.firstdraftdenver.com/). This place has great outdoor seating, serves food and has over 40 taps of beer, cider, wine and even mixed drinks. You are given a card which activates each of the taps and you are charged at the end by the ounce which is tracked by the card. I found a Birthday Bash Stout that was delicious and dangerous at 13%ABV.

After that we walked off our libations with a stroll on 16th street, got froyo at Walgreens and we walked through Union Station so Dave would know where to go when it was time for him to head back to the airport in a couple of weeks. Then Dave’s previous nights accommodations (he slept in the airport) and that 13% ABV got to us and we needed a nap. So we headed back to my apartment and nap we did.
With a pretty successful day behind us and knowing Dave had an early morning the next day, we laid low Saturday evening and headed a block down the street for some yummy pizza at Pizza Pedal’r (http://www.pizzapedalr.com/). Then watched Joy..which is really good!!

It was nice having someone from home here, even if just for a day. I am pretty sure Dave’s coming back to stay his last night since I am close to Union Station…but from the looks of his pictures he is having a very successful trip and loving CO!
