My First Official Visitor

Saturday evening at approximately 8pm my BFF, Mrs. Jennifer Jacobowitz, arrived on the Denver scene. A little colder of a scene than she was expecting, but none the less, the Denver scene.  Now, I realize my sister and Wendi were here previously, but this was my first visitor post settling.  I had to venture out to the airport to pick her up.  Visitor.

We came to the apartment and freshened up then hit the bar at Linger (www.lingerdenver.com) in the Highlands.   Had an app and a drink and then scooted over to Williams and Graham (http://williamsandgraham.com), a neat little speak easy.  Both our old asses started feeling tired so we headed home….only to stay up until 2:30am talking.

Sunday we got up and headed to Snooze for brunch, but alas, there was an hour wait. Enter, Mercantile Dining and Provision (http://www.mercantiledenver.com) in Union Station.  We did have a bit of a wait there, but then I ate all the brunch.  We both felt fat and happy and tired.  Anyone for a nap?

So we napped.  Sunday was pretty lazy, but we did manage to make it to Rumpus in the Park (http://www.westword.com/event/fantastic-rumpus-in-the-park-6650495).  It’s an annual event at Denver City Park with music, food trucks, a few vendors and lots of fantastic people watching.  The event draws a bit of an eclectic crowd.  People were dancing with hula hoops and balls in bags, the outfits or costumes were outrageous…one woman was just dancing away in a thong and a top.  Yes, a thong.  Jen and I sat on a blanket in the sunshine for 2 hours just watching the Rumpus.

Then we came home, sat around, ate some stuff I had here for dinner, watched Sunday night TV and called it a night.  I am still on east coast time for the work week.  Oy!

Monday morning we tried again to eat at Snooze, and it was successful…and yummy!

Once I wrapped up the workday on Monday, Jen and I set out to finish up my apartment.  She wanted to make sure all pictures were hung and that I had a proper work space by the time she left.  And I had some errands to run.  We hit Target, Ulta, Staples, PetSmart, Home Depot and WalMart.  We got home, ordered a pizza and got to work.

First we hung a curtain rod across my entire end wall.  But then realized my custom curtains were too short for the rod’s height.  Since I have three sets of drapes in storage, we decided to look for a cheap option that would work which we later found at Ikea and I would go get them later in the week.   Then we hung a couple of harder pieces together.  After that, Jen got to work putting together my desk while I started hanging the rest of the pictures (I think she choose the short stick).  By 10pm, we had made lots of progress and decided to call it a night.  Yes another awesome friend who came in town and got me so much farther so much more quickly than I would have myself.  Thankful!  ❤

The next morning I dropped my first visitor off at the Denver International Airport for her trip back to Richmond.  It was awesome catching up, and laying around but then getting stuff done.  Felt like being home.  I was feeling a little glum….and then I arrived home to flowers.  Perfect timing by Mrs. Wendi!!  I am going to plant that sucker and make it an indoor plant.  I have the most amazing friends!
