Fun Week

So while the week before last was a bit lackluster, last week was super fun.  On Saturday when Dave and I were at First Draft, I ran into a woman (Kate) I had met the first month I was here.  We chatted a bit and said we’d be in touch to get together. Not sure why we hadn’t gotten together recently.  I reached out to her for dinner and we met at Mercantile (http://mercantiledenver.com/) Wednesday night, sat at the bar and ate dinner with a few glasses of wine. I do love Mercantile!  Then we grabbed some ice cream in Union Station and sat outside, the weather was amazing.

On Friday I met Lindsey (met through CrossFit) at Vita (http://www.vitadenver.com/) for lunch.  It was SOO yummy and I really want to go for dinner soon.  We sat on the rooftop and the misters were a pleasant relief from the heat.

On Friday night I got gussied up and went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Denver Performing Arts Center.  I love the theater and it’s something that I usually do with my Mom, and my sister when she can.  It made me a bit homesick but the play was amazing and the venue was beautiful!!  I scored a seat in the center of the front row of the Mezzanine level.

On Saturday I had planned to meet Dave and a few of his friends for a day of fun in CO Springs, but it just wasn’t going to work for me.  So, I reached out to my friend Jenny to see if she wanted to get together Saturday and she happened to have a hike planned the next morning with some of her girl friends. She invited me along and I am so glad I went.  The hike was great and the company even better.  They were really great ladies and we had a delicious brunch afterwards at Toast (http://www.toastygoodness.com/).  Probably the BEST cinnamon roll I have ever had!  My only complaint…no alcohol.  I wanted a mimosa SO DAMN BAD!

Then it was time for the pool!  The pool here at my complex is rather small and gets PACKED!  Glynnis, her boyfriend (Mike) and I grabbed some beers and headed out in hopes of finding loungers, and we did.  Unbelievable.  It was more crowded than I had ever seen it, but GREAT people watching.  Tons of floats, everyone drinking, three different games of beer pong…both in and out of the pool…SPRING BREAK.

Then I came in for a nap to rest up for the evening.  We had decided at the pool that we wanted oysters for dinner and I wanted to go back to First Draft (http://www.firstdraftdenver.com) SOOO bad!

Glynnis and I started out at First Draft.  It was packed, and then stared to absolutely pour. And I had two of those 13%ABV beers…probably shouldn’t have done that.

Then Mike picked us up and we headed to Stoic & Genuine at Union Station for oysters.  I also love octopus and they had an interesting shaved octopus dish on the menu so I had that too…along with a glass of wine.  It was super yummy….but oysters are EXPENSIVE out here.

Finally, we headed inside Union Station for more wine, people watching and a lil shuffle board.  Glynnis and I went head to head with two guys, both named Matt, that had come in from Littleton for the Rockies game.  One was pretty cute but leaving for Australia for 3 months the very next morning for work.  We did exchange numbers, though, so we’ll see if anything comes of that.

Then the weekend wrapped up today (Sunday) with a little soirée in the club house here at the complex for Glynnis’s father who is turning 70.  Her parents were in town from NoVA for the weekend.

All in all it was a busy and fun week!!  It’s nice to be at a point that I can call up friends and make plans.  I can’t wait for my first girls trip!!!

AND MY MOM COMES IN TOWN THIS WEEK!!!! I am so EXCITED!!!!
